The latest pop up restaurant to open is "The After School Club" open for 11 days over July and August. The entrepreneurs behind the pop-up dining venture are using Clapton's Round Chapel Old School Rooms, turning school dinners into fine dining with a five course menu available at £55 a head.
Pop-up restaurants and shops can turn temporary property into trendy, seasonal hot-spots, without the need to enter expensive into long term leases. Planning permission is also potentially avoided as long as the pop-ups don't last for more than 28 days.
With blackboard tables, prefect waiters and menus masquerading as homework books, the Art of Dining team have transformed the Round Chapel Old School Rooms in Clapton, East London, into a era-ambiguous dining hall that promises to feel familiar to all. Whether you were at school ten, 30 or even 50 years ago, set designer Alice Hodge believes that you will feel at home both with your surroundings and fellow 'students'. "Nostalgia breaks down barriers", she explains.
