As is often the case with big set-piece Government announcements, it is worth keeping an eye out for other news. The Government will often use the fact that the media's attention is elsewhere to make other announcements or raise other issues.
Budget Day has, this time, led to well-placed sources raising the prospect of a change to fox hunting. This is a hugely emotive issue and the Conservatives know it. If there is an issue that can damage their claim to be One Nation and 'all in it together', as the Chancellor did again in his Budget Speech, then this is it.
MPs will be asked to vote on changes to existing laws on fox hunting in England and Wales as early as next week. The government will reportedly give MPs a free vote on whether to bring existing practice in England and Wales "into line" with that in Scotland.
