Following the party's 'victory' over fox hunting, the SNP is looking to pick and choose its fights with the Conservative Government. Far from being completely powerless, the slim nature of the Conservative majority makes its vulnerable to defeats by the SNP if it can work with others. The next battle has been suggested to be assisted dying.

However, there will be more difficult decisions for the SNP to consider. The BBC was criticised in some quarters for its coverage during the referendum debate. The Conservatives are considering some potentially radical change to the BBC. The SNP will need to decide on what its views are on the proposed changes and whether to work with or against the government.

It is not always easy to pick sides and take a position of total opposition.
