Airbnb has announced that its latest venture is to offer those staying in Airbnb accommodation the option to rent office space in a nearby location. This is being trialled in London and other major US cities.
The question for property lawyers is how does this work from a legal perspective. It seems likely that a temporary licence would be grant for daily occupation through Airbnb's terms and conditions. This would grant temporary occupier's rights to use the desk for a day, presumably for an all-inclusive charge.
It will be fascinating to see if this new Airbnb venture catches on. It seems there is no end to the commoditised and fast-paced speed of life that we have come to expect.
Airbnb is looking to grab a larger slice of the business trip market in partnering with WeWork to offer those staying in accommodation listed on its website the option to rent a desk in their nearest office. The trial, which launches on Thursday, covers WeWork offices in Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, Sydney, and Washington, DC and is expected to run for a few months.
